Kelly Cotting

Kelly Cotting is an experienced litigator with over fourteen years of diverse legal experience, including legal research, writing, and courtroom advocacy.

A graduate of the University of Virginia School of Law (Class of 2010), Kelly began her career at a boutique law firm focusing on general litigation. There, she honed her legal skills across a range of civil matters, including contract disputes, insurance defense, employment law, and family law.

Driven to expand her impact in the legal field, Kelly transitioned into public service as a prosecutor. Over the course of twelve years, she managed thousands of cases, bringing over thirty jury trials to verdict—including several high-profile cases. She cultivated a deep focus on financial crimes, computer crimes, elder abuse, and sexual abuse. Kelly’s prosecutorial work also involved close collaboration with expert witnesses, particularly medical experts, where she excelled in preparation and coordination.

An experienced appellate advocate, Kelly has briefed cases that were upheld by the Virginia Court of Appeals and the Virginia Supreme Court. Her experience in legal analysis and writing established her as a resource for complex legal challenges.

In October 2022, Kelly relocated to Seattle, Washington, where she resumed general civil litigation. Her practice spans Family Law, Personal Injury, Copyright, Employment, and Contract disputes, leveraging her robust trial and appellate experience.

Licensed in Washington State, Kelly brings a unique trial-level perspective to appellate issues, ensuring comprehensive and strategic representation for her appellate clients.
