Arkansas Bar No. 2014172

Mason grew up in Jonesboro, Ark., graduated from Hendrix College in Conway, Ark., and attended the University of Arkansas School of Law in Fayetteville, where he was a law review editor and graduated magna cum laude.

Mason’s passion for appellate work is longstanding. In law school, he represented his first client pro bono before the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals in San Francisco. Colwell v. Bannister, 763 F.3d 1060 (9th Cir. 2014). In private practice, he’s successfully represented dozens of clients in appeals of all types. See Leeka v. State, 2015 Ark. 183, 461 S.W.3d 331 (overturned criminal conviction based on mental state); Morris v. State, 2016 Ark. App. 546, 506 S.W.3d 299 (overturned criminal conviction based on Miranda rights); Guenther v. Griffin Construction Co., 846 F.3d 979 (8th Cir. 2017 (“Guenther’s ADA claim for compensatory damages survived his death…. The district court’s decision is reversed.”); Fryberger v. Univ. of Ark., 889 F.3d 471 (8th Cir. 2018) (rejecting argument that a Title IX action for damages is barred by sovereign immunity).

Aside from his extensive appellate experience, Mason has obtained settlements for injured people across the country totaling tens of millions of dollars. His work includes high profile matters like medical device recalls, foodborne illness outbreaks, train derailments, and nursing home assaults. He has also regularly represented incarcerated and formerly incarcerated people pro bono in cases of medical indifference and excessive force. Super Lawyers Magazine recognized Mason as a Mid-South Rising Star from 2017 to 2019. He is licensed to practice in all Arkansas courts, including the Supreme Court. For federal issues,
he is admitted to all courts in Arkansas, as well as the Eighth Circuit Court of Appeals and the United States Supreme Court.

Away from the office, Mason enjoys baseball, cooking, concerts, and fresh air. He resides primarily in California with his wife and son.
